this incredible same-sex Wedding in the Macarthur Region of Sydney NSW.
I’m not going to call it a Commitment Ceremony.
These two women have been “all-in” since day one, since between them
they have 5 beautiful children and 8 gorgeous grandchildren.
They have fought almost impossible odds to be together, crossed state lines
to be together, and fought harder than most just to be united and happy.
If that isn’t commitment, I don’t know what is.
I first met Kel & Chelle when I did a public call-out for a same-sex couple
to even out my unbalanced portfolio, which led to one of my favourite
sessions to date, found here , during which Kel proposed to Chelle.
It was discussed even on that day, that they would love me to photograph
their Wedding – and as if I would ever miss that opportunity!
An added bonus to this rapport was seeing their Engagement shots used
in their Seating Chart frame (check it out in the pics below – very cute!)
Their very rainbow (LOVE IT!) Wedding started with a ceremony in
the Connection Gardens at Mount Annan Botanic Gardens.
And it is here that I am going to give an epic shoutout to
Sydney Marriage Celebrant, Melissa Soncini.
I have obviously come across many Celebrants in this industry, and
never have I come across one who shares such genuine joy with
a couple as Melissa does. Her personal touches and light-hearted
personality made the ceremony just that little bit extra special.
She was also a dream to work with from a professional stand point, so
definitely contact her if you’re in the market for a celebrant!
The ceremony was full of stories and laughs, and was a true
testament to the power of love. The girls opted to do a balloon
release – where their kids/grandkids contributed balloons, and
all of them were united and released. It was rainbow (of course!)
We then moved on to some beautiful formal portraits where Mother Nature
put on a more-than-stunning display of darkening clouds.
Amazingly, the rain held off until we were finished with our portraits,
at which point the girls shouted “See!! Even Mother Nature loves Gays!!”
Their intimate reception was so heartfelt and guests travelled all over
Australia to join the brides in the Celebrations.
In fact, they conducted all of their Wedding planning with their Bridal
Party living in 4 different states!
The whole night we were treated as nothing less than family.
Girls, I thank you and your families for that from the bottom of my heart.
It makes all the difference in telling your story.
All night, I watched these two share their joy with their united families.
I watched them cry happy tears, thankful tears, laugh-induced tears, and
heard stories of the battles they have each overcome to stand as one
on that dance floor.
How our government can deny them the right to marry, I’ll never know.
These girls love fiercely and nothing will stop them.
Not even our laws.
Lack of rights made this no less of a marriage to anyone in that room.
LOVE ALWAYS WINS.
Congratulations to Mrs & Mrs Norris!!!!
Because “two brides are better than one!”
Love you both immensely and wish nothing but the best
for your future together!!
